Mark Goldbridge is excited by the news linking Manchester United with a move for Ajax winger Antony.

Goldbridge has been speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel discussing United’s reported transfer targets.

Back in April, Spanish outlet Marca relayed a report from The Times shortly after Erik ten Hag was announced as the Red Devils boss and it stated that the 52-year-old had already held a meeting with the Old Trafford executives, with Antony named as a possible transfer target.

The 22-year-old was brought to Ajax by Ten Hag from Sao Paulo in his native Brazil back in 2020 and has gone on to be involved in 42 goals in 79 appearances in Amsterdam.

Man United are reportedly now in talks with Antony’s agent amid talk of a €60m (£51m) move, which is something that has excited Goldbridge.

He said: “We’re crying out for a winger who’s left-footed, and Antony would fit that bill. And if he’s available for €60m… I don’t know what’s not to like.

“I would like this deal to happen.”

According to Goal, it would take €60m to sign the flashy winger, who gives left-backs a ‘sleepless night’, according to Dutch journalist Johan Derksen.

With players already confirmed to be heading out the door, including Paul Pogba and with that figure possibly rising to 12, there will be plenty of room on the wage bill and indeed the squad for Ten Hag to make his mark, and by bringing in a player he knows so well, this could be very good business from the Red Devils.
