Manchester United YouTuber Mark Goldbridge believes the Red Devils will finish inside the top four next season if they sign PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.

Goldbridge was speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel discussing United’s reported transfer targets.

According to Sky Sports, United, as well as Chelsea, are interested in signing Sangare this summer. It is thought that the centre-midfielder has a €35m (£29.8m) release clause and as the report states, “the player has his heart set on a move to England and is convinced he will be a Premier League player next season.”

The news comes amid reports that the Old Trafford club are actively seeking a transfer for Barcelona maestro Frenkie de Jong, and according to Marca (via Express), Erik ten Hag’s side have made an opening bid of £68.3m.

Goldbridge is certainly excited by the prospect of a revamped engine room and has made a bold claim ahead of Ten Hag’s first season in the dugout, saying: “He’s [Sangare] a defensive juggernaut.

TIF Thoughts on Sangare to United…

While these rumours are in their infancy, it is important to note that the 24-year-old would certainly be the kind of midfielder that United need to protect a defence that finished with a neutral goal difference last season, conceding 57 goals in 38 league games.

Standing at a towering 6ft 3in, the Ivorian has gained comparisons with Yaya Toure for his presence and physicality in midfield. He was brought to the Eredivisie by PSV back in 2020 for a reported €9m (£7.7m), and with the player contracted until 2025, activating his release clause would be a very shrewd move from United officials.
