The Denmark international is set to be a free agent this summer after completing his short-term deal with Premier League outfit Brentford, and it remains to be seen if he will return to the Bees or look to start playing at a higher level – potentially with a club able to offer European football.
One of the leading frontrunners for Eriksen appears to be his former club Tottenham Hotspur, who could hand Antonio Conte the midfielder he managed at Inter, but recent reports have suggested Man United could soon be rivalling them for Eriksen.
While no approach has been made from Man United to Eriksen, according to Jones, they will eventually move for the midfielder.
Who would be a better signing for Man United?
He said: “Man United set out months ago saying there’s no way that we get to the summer window and Man United are not in the conversation for Christian Eriksen. That won’t happen, Man United will 100% give it a go.
“Because they have to – again, it’s a player that is ready and available on the market for nothing, and the calibre of player, the manager that they’ve got coming in, all fit.”
TIF Thoughts on Eriksen to Man United…
It would seemingly appear to be a no-brainer for Man United to at least make an approach for a midfielder with boatloads of Premier League experience and who knows the manager well, having trained with Ajax during his recovery last season.
However, with a lot of focus seemingly being put on signing Frenkie de Jong – someone who clearly isn’t in favour of a move to Old Trafford – Eriksen, who was called ‘unbelievable’ by Thomas Frank earlier on this season, could very easily slip away from the Red Devils and end up at a top-four rival.
