Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on The Done Deal Show that Christian Eriksen hasn’t decided what his future holds, amid interest from Manchester United.
It has recently been reported by The Athletic that United have put an offer on the table for Eriksen, who has also reportedly rejected a proposal from Brentford, so won’t be returning to the Bees in the new season.
While the Red Devils would offer Eriksen European football, it wouldn’t quite be the elite competition of the Champions League, and given that he also has interest from former club Tottenham Hotspur – who can offer him such football – his future remains very much undecided.
Jacobs claims that Eriksen is still yet to make any decision on his future and believes that Champions League football could still have an impact on his next destination.
Who would be better for Man United?
He said: “The truth is, regardless of what you read, I’m not going to sit here and tell you something when I don’t have the information; I’m not going to speculate over it. Right now, I am told by Eriksen’s people directly that he simply hasn’t decided.
“And probably the reason why he hasn’t decided is because offers are coming in thick and fast, and then what he decides will be based on a number of things, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Champions League football is a big lure.”
TIF Thoughts on Eriksen’s future…
While Man United have made an offer to Eriksen, The Athletic has also made it very clear that he isn’t their number-one priority this summer, which appears to be Frenkie de Jong. That could well turn Eriksen’s head away from Old Trafford if he doesn’t feel like he will be valued.
Eriksen has proved to almost everyone in the Premier League that he would be a top signing for them after managing to help guide Brentford away from the drop zone by only losing twice in 10 starts for the Bees last season, but now at 30 years old, his next move could be his final significant one, so it’s a big decision on several fronts for the Denmark international.
