Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Manchester United’s attempts to sign Frenkie de Jong will develop over the next few weeks.
It is no secret that the Barcelona man is a big target for the Premier League club, but it remains to be seen if any deal can acutally be sorted between the sides.
What could be a major stumbling block is the reported transfer fee, with Barcelona already rejecting a €60m (£51.3m) bid with add-ons for their player (via the Guardian).
Despite that, Sheth seemed confident that the deal should develop in the near future, with United seemingly still very keen on signing De Jong.
Talking as a guest on The West Ham Way podcast, Sheth explained: “I think the Frenkie de Jong one to United, that is something that is going to develop in the next couple of weeks.”
Will Man United agree to sign Frenkie de Jong this week?

TIF Thoughts on Frenkie de Jong and Man United…
Having gained top European experience at Ajax and Barcelona, there should be no doubting De Jong’s quality. And so, United will most likely be doing all they can to get this deal sorted as soon as possible.
There is, of course, an obvious link which could help convince the 25-year-old that a move could be good for his career, as he has worked with new boss Erik ten Hag in the past.
Even so, there has been some talk that the midfielder could snub Man United, but if Sheth’s information is correct, the Red Devils may well eventually land their man – it just depends on how things develop in the near future.
