Journalist Julien Laurens has claimed that Manchester United could be looking at Leeds United winger Raphinha ahead of the summer transfer window.
Raphinha has been linked with a move to Manchester United previously as Erik ten Hag will look to strengthen the squad after a disappointing season last term. United ended up finishing in sixth place in the Premier League, 13 points off a Champions League qualification spot.
The Brazilian winger was the star man in a struggling Leeds side this season who only managed to scrape survival on the final day of the season. He was the club’s top scorer from the right wing, with 11 Premier League goals in 35 games.
With Ten Hag expected to make changes to the United squad over the summer, Laurens spoke on The Gab & Juls Show and tipped them to show interest in Raphinha, due to him being a special player.
He said: “Even in the Premier League, a club like Chelsea or even Man United could be looking at Raphinha. I think he is a very special player, he was in France already, he was even in Portugal before.”
Would Raphinha be a good option for United?YesNo |
TIF Thoughts on Laurens’ comments…
Raphinha has been the main man in a poor Leeds side this season, though he emphasised his importance to the team, notching the most goal contributions (14) in the squad in the Premier League. United also had a below-par season, so the Brazilian winger could be a good option for Ten Hag as somebody who has experience in the Premier League.
United scored the lowest amount of goals out of the teams that finished in the top eight of the Premier League, with Bruno Fernandes being the second-highest scorer, having netted eight fewer times than top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, so someone like Raphinha who has proven he can score goals could be a suitable option for the new manager.
