Fabrizio Romano has revealed that star Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale this summer amid interest from other Premier League clubs.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of top-level talent this summer with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Antony, and Raphinha linked to a move to the club this summer, however, recently one of their key players in Ronaldo has been rumoured with a move to Chelsea after new owner Todd Boehly spoke to his agent Jorge Mendes over a deal.

Romano recently revealed that the striker is in fact not for sale as he is a key part of the team moving forward and new manager Erik ten Hag is excited about the prospect of working with the legendary footballer next season.

He said, “My understanding is on Manchester United side; they see the situation in a very clear way. When it comes to the club, it is very clear. Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale. They count on him, the board, the club and Erik ten Hag because ten Hag would love to work with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“So, Manchester United expect him to be a part of the team next season. Want him to be a part of the team and consider him not for sale. This is the message from Manchester United, a very clear one.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

United would be stupid to sell the 698 career goal legend after their disastrous season where he was by far the best player in the squad and got them out of several tricky situations under failed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Last season the 37-year-old bagged an impressive 24 goals and three assists in all competitions for the Red Devils while averaging 3.6 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 1.4 aerial duels per game. According to Fbref the forward ranked in the 97th percentile for pass completion, 92nd for non-penalty goals and 91st for clearances per game compared to forwards across the men’s big five leagues.

United are about to go through a huge rebuild under Ten Hag and while they will want to get rid of and cash in on the deadwood on their side, selling a player like Ronaldo who carried them at moments last season and is their leader, would be a stupid decision.
