Graeme Bailey has claimed on the latest episode of Talking Transfers that Liverpool hold an interest in Bukayo Saka.

Liverpool may have to prepare for a slight summer shake-up in their attacking department this summer as long-time servant Sadio Mane is reportedly looking to leave the Reds this summer in favour of a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Mane has been a top player for Liverpool, winning six pieces of silverware, but with just one year left on his current contract and now 30 years old, this could be the best time for the Reds to cash in and replace him with someone younger.

According to Bailey, that player could well be Saka, who’s impressed this season with 11 goals and six assists for Arsenal.

He said: “If Arsenal aren’t challenging for the title within 12 months, I don’t see how they keep him, and I think the player sort of knows this as well. In your heart of hearts, the Arsenal fans will know it and the club know it as well – it’s just a matter of when they cash in.

Would Saka be a good Mane replacement?

Yes!

No!

No!

“We know Man City love him – why wouldn’t they, he’d fit in that style. I’m told that Real Madrid are taking a very keen interest in his progress as well, as are Liverpool. It’s no surprise.

“Saka is one of those players who is that good, he’s going to be able to choose his club. Every club in the world will want him, he’ll be able to choose his next destination.”

How well do you know these Liverpool squad numbers? Starting off with an easy one: Mo Salah

Interestingly, Arsenal journalist James McNicholas even claimed the Englishman ‘looked like Salah’ during a clash between Leicester City and the Gunners earlier in the recent season.

The young winger is already a regular in the Premier League as well as in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, which is very impressive – and it will come as no surprise that Arsenal are desperate to keep him, having already opened up talks about a new contract.

However, if Arsenal aren’t able to match Saka’s personal growth and progression, an offer to go and play under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool – a club who are regularly competing for silverware every season – would likely be too good to turn down, despite coming through the ranks at Hale End.
