Liverpool have Christian Pulisic on their radar ahead of the summer window as a potential Sadio Mane replacement.

This is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking on the latest Ranks FC podcast amid reports over Mane’s future at Anfield.

Reports now suggest Mane’s time at Anfield is over, with the Senegalese winger looking to leave this summer amid interest coming from Bayern Munich.

Mane has been a huge part of the recent success on Merseyside, having provided 168 goal involvements in his 269 Liverpool appearances (via Transfermarkt).

However, with the 30-year-old admitting he will do what many of his countrymen want him to do and leave Liverpool, Jones believes Chelsea’s Pulisic is a real option.

He said: “He’s on the radar.

“Klopp loves him and Pulisic’s dad isn’t happy – and that’s a big thing. Like, Pulisic’s dad isn’t happy with where his career is right now at Chelsea. Pulisic is not particularly happy with the way he’s been used, as quite a few Chelsea players aren’t, it’s definitely under review.

“We’ve got to bear in mind that Chelsea’s new owners are American, so they won’t want to lose Pulisic from a sporting point of view. He’s a good player, so they shouldn’t want to lose him anyway, but this one place that lures him is Liverpool, and they potentially have a spot in the lineup that suits him. So I definitely see this.

“I was talking about this with someone last night because I see it as being a line that gathers momentum in a week or so.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Pulisic has had a difficult time at Stamford Bridge recently, with just 22 appearances to his name in the 2021/22 Premier League campaign (via Transfermarkt).

Would Pulisic be a good Mane replacement?

No

The American was unable to compare to Mane across the 21/22 season, with 10 fewer goals in the top flight and 15 fewer across all competitions.

However, Jones’ comments make it apparent Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the American, and at just 23 years old, if Klopp could get him firing again, he could be Mane’s long-term replacement.
