Liverpool are now getting closer to selling Sadio Mane in a deal with Bayern Munich.

Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the ongoing transfer saga between the two European giants on his latest Here We Go podcast.

The Italian journalist revealed Mane’s decision to look for an exit from Anfield last month and the transfer expert now believes a move is close to becoming a reality.

However, there have been some stumbling blocks along the way, with the Merseyside club reportedly looking for a fee in the region north of €30m (£25.8m).

With having just one year left on his deal at Anfield, Mane’s time at Liverpool appears to be up, and Romano believes it is a deal which is edging ever closer.

He said: “It’s getting closer and closer. This is an important week, because the contact between Bayern and Liverpool will continue. I can tell you that speaking with sources, the feeling I have is that Sadio Mane will be a Bayern player in the coming days.

“I don’t know how long it will take – if a few days or weeks – because it depends on the negotiations. Bayern had two proposals turned down by Liverpool. So they are still discussing, but Bayern are coming with a new proposal for Sadio Mane and the expectation internally at the club is that they can really get it done.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It is perhaps no coincidence that this is a deal which has taken a big step forward since the Reds confirmed the signing of Darwin Nunez on Tuesday.

Will Nunez score more than Mane's 16 league goals?

Jurgen Klopp now has – hopefully – a huge boost to his options up top, with the expected departure of Mane taking away a big chunk of goals, with 23 (16 in the Premier League) to the winger’s name across the 2021/22 campaign.

But with Mane apparently nearing an exit from Anfield, we think a number of Liverpool fans will be pleased to hear a proposed deal for the Senegal star is progressing quickly.
