Podcast host Mo Stewart has urged Liverpool to add Napoli forward Victor Osimhen to their attack this summer.

The former Lille hitman has had a standout season at Napoli, firing them to Champions League qualification with a third-place finish in Serie A above the likes of Juventus, Lazio and Roma.

The Nigeria international has 14 goals and five assists in the division and managed no fewer than 24 goal contributions in total over all competitions this season – impressive numbers indeed.

With Jurgen Klopp looking to evolve his attack, especially with rivals Manchester City adding Erling Haaland to their ranks this summer, signing a player of Osimhen’s ilk could well provide the Reds with the much-needed firepower to halt City’s Premier League dominance.

As Sadio Mane looks set to depart Anfield this summer, along with Divock Origi, signing a goalscorer could be on the agenda for the club, and they have been recently linked with the Nigerian hitman before.

Speaking on the podcast about who he would like to see replace Mane, Stewart said: “Every time I look at him playing for Napoli, I think yes, he has all of the qualities to do exactly what Sadio does well. He has the intelligence, he has the technical ability, the strength and the fear that he puts into opponents. And he can score all kinds of goals.

“It would probably be a slightly more expensive option than some of the others we’ve mentioned, but he’s 23 years old, he’s got the whole of his career ahead of him. I think if we brought him in, he could be absolutely devastating for us.”

TIF Thoughts on Stewart’s comments…

Throughout his time in Italy, Osimhen has managed an impressive 28 goals and nine assists in 62 games for Gli Azzuri, propelling himself to become one of the most clinical forwards on the continent.

Journalist Zach Lowy believes that the 23-year-old has “everything it takes” to become “one of the best strikers of his generation”, while Emmet Gates has billed the Nigerian’s potential as “frightening.”

Klopp has done well to bring goals out of the likes of Mane, Salah, Jota and Diaz this season, who have scored a combined 81 goals in total, without any of them being a recognised striker.

So imagine what the German could do if he possessed a ready-made number nine.

Indeed, the Lagos-born forward certainly seems to hold all the tools in his arsenal to become an Anfield favourite.
