Liverpool: Outcast shows hard work via Instagram

|

Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has taken to Instagram to show that he is working hard during the off-season after being an outcast for the Reds this season.

Rhys Williams came through the youth academy and made his Premier League debut for Liverpool in the 2020/21 season, he went on to make 19 first-team appearances for the Reds, including six in the Champions League and nine in the top flight.

However, this season Williams went on loan with Swansea in the Championship but only featured five times in the league, and he made zero first-team appearances for the Liverpool first-team after Jurgen Klopp opted to bring in Ibrahim Konate to the club in the summer.

Liverpool played every game possible this season after they reached three cup finals and took the Premier League title race down to the final game, so Williams might have been disappointed not to get a single minute of first-team football under his belt.

With Williams being excluded from the first-team squad, he has taken to Instagram to show that he is putting in the hard work in attempt to try and feature more regularly next season.

TIF Thoughts on Rhys Williams…

Williams has been a victim to Liverpool’s success this season, last season he featured on a more regular basis as Virgil Van Dijk was injured for large parts, but this term, because of the impressive performances of the central defenders, both Joel Matip and Van Dijk were in the top five performers for the Reds in the Premier League.

Liverpool fell just short in the Champions League and the Premier League this season, so Klopp might be looking to upgrade the squad to ensure that they win at least one of the two competitions next season, so Williams might either have to go out on loan or leave on a permanent basis if he wants to play regular first-team football.
