Phil Hay has dropped a worrying update on the future of Kalvin Phillips at Leeds United.

It has been reported by The Athletic that while Leeds have not yet received an offer for Phillips, it appears to be only a matter of time before a bid is lodged.

Manchester City have been heavily linked, and as Fernandinho departs the Etihad Stadium, it appears that Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in a midfielder with Phillips seemingly top of his list – with his recent injury problems not looking like causing too many issues.

While speaking on The Phil Hay Show, it was revealed by Hay that it now appears very likely Man City will bid for Phillips, and a deal could get thrashed out.

Do you think Phillips wants to leave Leeds?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “The Manchester City link is very, very strong and as we speak – and it’s Wednesday afternoon – there hasn’t been an offer from Manchester City, but there seems absolutely no doubt, from what’s being said in Manchester, that one is coming.

“And I think it’s very, very likely that if they bid and they bid at an acceptable level, that this one will happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ future…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Losing someone that has come through the Leeds academy and been with them through their rise into the Premier League would be a major blow for the Whites, and despite having seemingly already agreed a deal to bring in Marc Roca, there would likely be further reinforcements brought in if and when Phillips departs.

While some Leeds fans may be hopeful that Phillips’ emotional ties to Leeds might be enough to see him remain at Elland Road, realistically, if he’s offered the chance to be coached by Pep Guardiola at a team that is almost guaranteed to win silverware every season, it would appear to be a no-brainer, especially after the way Leeds performed last campaign.

I hope they pay over he odds, we will probably have to sign two players to replace him.
