Journalist Conor McGilligan has been left baffled by rumours linking Leeds star Raphinha with a move to Arsenal this summer.

He was speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel following reports linking the Brazilian with a move to north London.

The Telegraph reported that the Gunners are considering a move for the 25-year-old who Leeds have reportedly slapped a £60m price tag onto amid claims that Barcelona have been looking to close in on a potential deal for the winger whose agent, Deco, has close ties to the La Liga giants.

Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that the Catalan giants have agreed a five-year deal with the player but the club’s ongoing financial struggles could derail any possible swoop.

Despite making no formal bid of their own, Arsenal are thought to be admirers – but McGilligan has dismissed those ideas.

Do you expect Raphinha to leave this summer?

He said: “Leeds fans are very aware that Raphinha is probably going to be leaving this summer but there is absolutely no chance he goes to Arsenal. It makes no sense. They’ve got Saka on that side.”

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

With the only club showing concrete interest in Barca appearing to be struggling to conjure up the required transfer fee hope will be growing among Leeds supporters that they can hold onto their star man.

The seven-capped Brazil international is still under contract at Elland Road until 2024 and carried the Whites out of the relegation zone as he stepped up with 11 goals in the top flight.

However, it does seem likely that he is intent on leaving this summer albeit not to Arsenal and as McGilligan pointed out, the fans wouldn’t begrudge him a move.
