Leeds United are interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, it has been claimed.

With the Yorkshire club seemingly resigned to the imminent departure of midfield enforcer Kalvin Phillips, they appear to be looking at potential replacements.

The boyhood Leeds fan looks set for a big-money move to Premier League champions Manchester City, and while Victor Orta has already recruited workhorse Marc Roca from Bayern Munich, it looks like the spending in that area will continue upon Phillips’ impending exit.

Indeed, Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross is of the belief that if either of their two main stars leave this summer – the other being Raphinha – they will be directly replaced, adding that Roca and Brenden Aaronson would have joined the club regardless in an attempt to add depth to the squad.

It appears that Jesse Marsch has identified a familiar face to fill the void in the centre of the pitch, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claiming on the Que Golazo Podcast (via TEAMtalk) that Adams could end up at Elland Road with his former manager.

And now, noted insider ExWHUemployee, who has called some major signings of late, has claimed on The Transfer Show that Leeds do have an interest in Adams – and that it is linked to Phillips possibly saying goodbye to Elland Road.

Will Tyler Adams want a move to Leeds this summer?

He said: “We’ve mentioned this guy before as well. Leeds are trying to sign an American midfielder – obviously, they’ve got an American manager – from Red Bull Leipzig, and that’s Tyler Adams, because they’re preparing for Kalvin Phillips to potentially move to Manchester City.”

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

The American duo have worked together in the past and it was Marsch who handed Adams his first 90 minutes in MLS for New York Red Bulls back in 2017.

The 23-year-old then moved to RB Leipzig two years later and was reunited with his compatriot last term as Marsch took up the reins in Germany.

He has gone on to play over 100 games for the Bundesliga outfit, with regular appearances in the Champions League, and could well be a player that the Thorp Arch executives target this window.
