Journalist Conor McGilligan has said that Leeds United target Mohamed Camara would be the perfect replacement for Kalvin Phillips.
It is widely expected that Manchester City will end up signing the key Whites midfielder this summer. If this does happen, it will, of course, leave Leeds with money to spend in the transfer market.
With that in mind, McGilligan has named the Red Bull Salzburg man as the perfect replacement to come in and fill the gap left by Phillips’ mooted move to City.
While talking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, the journalist expressed his feelings on the matter. Indeed, he was asked if he would take Camara as Phillips’ replacement, replying: “100%.
“He’s number one for me, number one. He does everything Kalvin does, and he’s been in a Salzburg system.”
Will Kalvin Phillips be a Leeds player next season?

TIF Thoughts on Mohamed Camara and Leeds…
A recent article in LeedsLive mooted the possible move due to the fact that Camara is the RB Salzburg ‘midfield lynchpin’. It explains this makes him a suitable signing as he understands how to play in the same sort of setup that Jesse Marsch now employs at Leeds – as McGilligan alluded to as well.
Having won a domestic double in each of the past three consecutive seasons over in Austria, the 22-year-old is certainly no stranger to success. And with 36 appearances in all competitions last term, it’s easy to see that he was an integral part of the Salzburg team.
With all that in mind, it is no shock to hear that McGilligan is keen on Camara, though it is a pretty big claim to name him as his preferred option to come in for Phillips should the midfielder end up completing his expected move to City this summer. Only time will tell as to whether Camara will get the opportunity to prove his potential.
