Journalist Conor McGilligan has revealed that Leeds United youngster Leif Davis will be put up for sale this summer.

Much of the talk at Leeds of late has been about potential new signings like Denmark defender Rasmus Kristensen, or possible high-profile departures like Raphinha to Barcelona.

However, one player who could be set to leave the club in the coming months is the young defender, who spent the season on loan in the Championship with Bournemouth.

Indeed, while talking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan said he had just been told by a source that Davis will likely be ‘out of the door’ this summer.

He explained: “Leeds United are looking at the minute to get rid of Leif Davis. Yes, at the minute, they are touting him out to clubs and that would essentially mean that Leeds are not looking to keep him at the club.

“Contrary to reports, which are essentially saying that Leeds United are looking to give him an option to play in front of Jesse Marsch and try and prove himself.

“I don’t think, from what I’ve been told, that this is the case. So it looks like Leeds United are looking to funnel him out of the door.”

TIF Thoughts on Leif Davis and Leeds…

Although he won promotion with Bournemouth back up into the Premier League, it doesn’t look as if Davis had the greatest of loan spells during his 12 months on the south coast.

In the end, he only played 12 times in the Championship for the Cherries – starting just seven games – failing to ever nail down a regular role in the team. With that in mind, Jesse Marsch and co may feel as though he doesn’t have the quality to make the step up for the Whites next term.

Judging from McGilligan’s latest update, it certainly seems that way. If a bid comes in for Davis over the next few weeks or months, it’s hard to see Leeds turning it down if this claim is accurate.
