Leeds United will try and sign Ben Brereton Diaz on a ‘cut-price deal’ this summer, according to a recent claim.

Having had to go through most of the past season with striker Patrick Bamford out injured, the Whites may well look to reinforce that position in the transfer market.

It certainly looks as though that could be the case, with New York City FC forward Taty Castellanos being linked with a possible move in recent weeks.

But if the club want to seek out an option a little more familiar with English football, the Blackburn Rovers ace could be their man.

Indeed, while talking about Leeds on The Transfer Show podcast, insider ExWHUemployee claimed that the Premier League outfit have an interest in trying to sign Brereton Diaz on the cheap.

He said: “Ben Brereton Diaz of Blackburn – they’re going to try and get him, possibly in a cut-price deal to play up front.”

TIF Thoughts on Ben Brereton Diaz and Leeds…

The Blackburn striker, who was called ‘unbelievable’ for his international displays by Chile journalist Matias Grez, has certainly impressed this season. Indeed, he ended the Championship season with 22 goals and three assists to his name.

However, due to his quality – evidenced even more through his international displays with Chile – a number of clubs seem to be interested in Diaz.

Ex also mentioned that West Ham United had been linked with a move, while recent reports have claimed that Everton, Bournemouth, Sevilla, Real Betis and Valencia are all chasing a possible deal.

With the player’s contract set to expire in June 2023, now may be the best time for Blackburn to cash in on the player. This would explain why Leeds would want a good price for the forward. Unfortunately, though, it looks as though a number of other teams have the same idea.
