Leeds United may have just been handed a big boost in their hopes of keeping Raphinha at Elland Road this summer.

Journalist Dean Jones has now suggested on the latest Ranks FC podcast that reported suitors Liverpool have Christian Pulisic ahead of the Brazilian on their wishlist.

It is believed Raphinha is receiving interest ahead of the summer window from the Reds, who are likely to lose Sadio Mane in the coming weeks.

And these reports come amid the claims that Barcelona have been looking to close in on a potential deal for Raphinha, whose agent, Deco, has close ties to the La Liga giants.

However, Jones also believes Chelsea winger Pulisic is held in high regard by Jurgen Klopp and is, in fact, ahead of the Leeds man on their list ahead of the summer. The Whites have also slapped a £60m price tag on his head as Andrea Radrizzani aims to keep hold of their prized asset.

He said: “He [Raphinha] had a relegation release clause and, you know, that was when Barca were really talking about that. And I think that now that his price has been set at like £60m, it’s probably going to rule Barca out of that conversation. But yeah, Pulisic for me ahead of Raphinha.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

This could be a real boost to fans who are clinging on to the hopes of seeing Raphinha play at Elland Road next season in a Leeds shirt.

Do you expect Raphinha to leave this summer?

However, we do wonder what the chances are of Chelsea potentially selling Pulisic to the side that finished just one place ahead of them in the 2021/22 campaign.

Jones’ comments on Barcelona being priced out of a move will certainly be a big boost, but there may still be some concerns over a switch to Anfield if it hinges on whether Liverpool are able to persuade Chelsea to do business with them over the American.
