Journalist Conor McGilligan has claimed that he would sell Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the summer if the right price was offered.
There have been recent reports stating that Kalvin Phillips could leave Leeds in the summer to join another Premier League club, with the likes of Manchester City and Aston Villa showing the most interest in his signature.
Phillips missed large chunks of the season for Leeds due to injury, and this has arguably been a major factor in the club’s poor season, as they had to rely on results elsewhere on the final day to ensure their Premier League safety, and ended up finishing one place above the drop zone.
Despite Phillips’ absence affecting the side this past term, McGilligan claimed on the One Leeds Fan YouTube channel that if the right price was put on the table, he would ‘100%’ accept it.
He said: “I think for £50m/£60m, for Kalvin Phillips – this is not going to be popular – but I would accept that, 100%.”

Leeds have suffered with severe injuries to key players this season such as Patrick Bamford and Phillips, and their absences have been felt, with the club failing to find any form as they finished 21 points behind what they accomplished last term with the duo heavily involved.
Last term, Phillips was arguably the club’s standout performer – he had the best average player rating with 7.21 (as per SofaScore), which means it could be difficult to see him staying at Elland Road if clubs with European football are showing interest and the Whites continue to struggle to make progress.
It may have come as a surprise that McGilligan has said that he would let Phillips go for the right price, but if he wants to leave, Jesse Marsch might be better off selling him and using the funds to invest in players that fit his system ahead of next season.
