Presenter Conor McGilligan has expressed his excitement after Leeds United have seemingly upped their interest in signing Mohamed Camara.

The midfielder has already been tipped to be the ideal replacement for the  departing Kalvin Phillips and now it looks as though the Whites will push to get the deal done in the near future.

Indeed, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Red Bull Salzburg have excused Camara from their pre-season training camp, so he can resolve his future. He added that Leeds are now in ‘direct contact’ with the player’s representatives.

Reacting to this latest update, McGilligan provided his own understanding of the situation and was clearly delighted with the news.

Speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he said (0:38): “It looks like, as well, Leeds are advancing apparently behind the scenes with Mohamed Camara, which is great.

“Apparently, we are speaking to his representatives. It looks like that’s a little bit ahead of the Tyler Adams deal now.”

TIF thoughts on Mohamed Camara and Leeds…

Still only 22 years of age, Camara looks to be a real prospect for the future, while having already achieved plenty. Indeed, his time with Salzburg has been laden with silverware which could explain why McGilligan is so excited about the idea of the midfielder signing.

It’s interesting to hear the possible transfer of Adams also mentioned. The RB Leipzig man is another midfield target for the Whites, but it seems as though Camara is the highest priority right now, if the latest talk of these advancements ‘behind the scenes’ with player representatives is to be believed.

One thing is clear, Leeds seem to be ready to go into the market and spend having agreed to sell Phillips to Manchester City. And if Camara is the man they end up landing, McGilligan might not be the only one excited.
