Journalist Conor McGilligan has urged Leeds United to be brave with their transfer plans in the current market amid links to Junior Adamu.

Already this summer, the Whites have made two signings. Indeed, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen have joined the club, with both arriving from Red Bull Salzburg – which just so happens to be where manager Jesse Marsch used to coach.

And according to a recent report from Sky Sport Austria, the next RB Salzburg player on his way to Yorkshire could be 21-year-old striker Adamu.

Considering all these connections, McGilligan has warned the club to be braver with their transfer dealings and not put all their eggs in the Red Bull basket over the coming months.

Speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he explained his feelings on the situation, saying: “Junior Adamu, the Salzburg forward, has been rumoured again. Apparently, Leeds are talking to him behind the scenes as well – 14 goals in 44 appearances for Salzburg.

“I don’t mind the Salzburg links – Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen… I don’t want us to go full Salzburg.

“I think it’s brave from a recruitment team to be able to look at the system that we’ve got now and think ‘a James Garner can fit into that’, ‘a Morgan Gibbs-White can fit into that’ – two hypothetical scenarios, there – and we can build and mould and develop those players in that system.

“I think it’s a little bit easy, basic, standard to just go for four or five Salzburg players and hope that they really transition into the Premier League easily and quickly.”

TIF Thoughts on Junior Adamu and Leeds…

With two Red Bull Salzburg men already signed up, it’s easy to see why McGilligan feels as if the club should be looking beyond that club for their transfer dealings this summer.

However, he doesn’t necessarily say he is against Adamu joining. Having only just turned 21 in June, the young striker netted seven times in the league last term, while also providing five assists (via Transfermarkt), so he could potentially bring something to the table for Leeds.

Which comedian supports the Whites?

Even so, it would certainly be an unimaginative policy to simply sign players who all play for Marsch’s former club. McGilligan tips the Whites to make a move for players in the mould of James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White, instead but only time will tell if the club hierarchy go down that path or continue on their current trajectory.
