Journalist Conor McGilligan has said that Taty Castellanos would be an ‘ideal’ striker for Leeds United amid recent transfer talk.

Over the past few weeks, it has been suggested that the New York City FC forward could end up in the Premier League. Indeed, West Ham United have been linked, but the Whites seem to be a more likely destination.

With that in mind, it seems as though McGilligan decided to do a little bit of research on the player, and what he has discovered has led him to believe that Castellanos would be a very good signing for Leeds.

While speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, the journalist explained that after talking to people who knew about the 23-year-old, he had been convinced it was a transfer to chase this summer.

He said: “Taty would be my ideal person to go to when it comes to a striker after researching him, after speaking to people.

“You guys always know that I speak to people behind the scenes and just ask them what their thoughts are. And they’ve just convinced me. We have a little bit of a chat – and these are people I respect.

Should Leeds target a new striker in the transfer market?

“So I think Taty Castellanos, listen – wouldn’t be a bad shout, wouldn’t be a bad shout at all.”

TIF Thoughts on Taty Castellanos and Leeds…

The Argentinian currently plays in MLS and has scored seven goals in 11 league matches this season, while also having an assist to his name, so we understand why Castellanos could be seen as a transfer worth exploring.

What could make him an attractive option for Jesse Marsch is the fact that the American used to coach in that division – in the same state of New York, no less – and so will have an understanding of how well Castellanos could potentially adapt to life in the Premier League.

Which comedian supports the Whites?

There’s little doubting that McGilligan would like Leeds to pursue a transfer over the coming months. Whether or not the club’s manager feels the same way, however, remains to be seen.
