Journalist Dean Jones has confirmed that Leeds United are going to try and sign Adama Traore over the next couple of months.

Leeds United are reportedly one of the clubs that are tracking the progress of Adama Traore this summer transfer window, but they face competition from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur who are also keen on acquiring the speedy winger.

Traore spent the second half of last season on loan with Barcelona, and the Spanish giants had a chance to make the deal permanent at the end of the loan, but they opted against paying the £29 million and he has since returned to his parent club Wolves.

With Leeds being one of the clubs who have shown interest in Traore, Jones claimed to GiveMeSport that the Whites are going to try and get him on board for a really good price over the next few months.

“There’s definitely some negotiating to be done. Wolves are going to try and push the price up as high as they can, and they’re not going to get what they want. So, Leeds are basically going to try and get Traore at a really good price,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Traore’s loan move with Barcelona in the second half of last season did not quite go to plan after he made 11 appearances in La Liga, but just four of those were from the start and he failed to score and registered just two assists in the league, which lead to Barca not wanting to acquire him on a permanent basis.

It looks like Raphinha is going to be parting ways with Leeds United this summer, so Jesse Marsch will be looking to find a suitable replacement, and even though Traore, who has been described as a ‘phenomenon’, does not have the same numbers as Raphinha in terms of goals and assists, if Leeds can get him for a reduced price, then he could be a good option for the American manager.
