TeamTalk editor James Marshment has tipped Leeds United to sign Romeo Lavia in exchange for Kalvin Phillips.

It is no secret that Manchester City are extremely keen on signing the Whites midfielder this summer, but it remains unclear as to what they will have to offer up to get the deal over the line.

According to a recent report in The Athletic, Leeds are very keen on signing Lavia, and so he could be used as a bargaining tool in an transfer that might see Phillips go the other way.

When discussing the possible move on the JUSTJOE FOOTBALL SHOW, Marshment said that he feels as though a swap could be ‘highly plausible’.

He said (11:38): “I think that’s highly plausible to be honest with you. Leeds have clearly got an interest, independent of talks about it, and a few other well established newspapers have talked about it. So I think the interest is there.

“[Lavia is a] Belgium Under 21 international. He comes, like you say, very highly rated.”

Should Leeds try and do a swap deal with Manchester City for Kalvin Phillips?

According to The Athletic, Lavia – who plays as a holding midfielder – is ‘well regarded’ at Man City and some at the club feel as though he will one day be able to break into their first team.

Despite still only be 18 years old, Lavia has already played twice for the Man City senior side, and so he does seem to possess plenty of potential.

With that in mind, City won’t be that keen probably to see him leave this summer, but if they want Phillips this may be a compromise they have to settle for.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

If Marshmen’s instinct is accurate, it really does look as though this could be a deal that happens. It’s certainly something to keep an eye on while the possible Phillips’ transfer continues to develop.
