Leeds United have been urged to make the signing of Sonny Perkins this summer with the 18-year-old’s contract set to expire in the coming weeks.

Journalist James Marshment has been speaking to YouTuber Joe Wainman to discuss the latest Leeds transfer news amid recent links to the West Ham United man.

According to Fabrizio Romano, however, the Yorkshire club face competition from Aston Villa for Perkins’ signature, with both clubs opening talks with the forward.

With competition for the signature of the young forward, Marshment has claimed it would be a smart addition from the Whites given he is set to leave as a free agent:

“It looks like he’s going to be moving on. His agent’s in talks with, if we’re led to believe, Leeds and Aston Villa. And it seems like a move is imminent for him.”

“So potentially you could be getting a really, really good player for a real knockdown fee. And if it works out and you’ve got a great attacker in your mix, then in three or four years time you’d be talking about a £20m or £30m player. So you know I think it’s a no-brainer if we can get that one done.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds…

After securing their Premier League status on the final day of last season, Leeds will be desperate to endure a comfortable campaign next time out come August. And, with Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen already through the door, those at Elland Road look prepared to enjoy a better season.

Although not necessarily coming in as a first-team regular right away, Perkins could still turn into a bargain deal in the future. The teenager made has made three appearances for West Ham, including in the Europa League against Dynamo Zagreb.

Adding to the incomings next could, indeed, be Perkins, should the reported talks end in a move. As things stand, though, he remains a West Ham player. With plenty of time left in the transfer window, however, that could yet change.
