Journalist James Marshment has claimed that if Leeds United can sign Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge then it would be smart business.

There have been reports stating that Premier League outfit Leeds United have made a bid for Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere, but his current contract with the Belgian side does not expire until 2024.

De Ketelaure was in fine form last season in the Jupiler Pro League, he netted 14 times and chipped in with a further seven assists in 33 league games, which has caught the eye of AC Milan who are keen on luring him away from Club Brugge.

With the impressive stats of De Ketelaere this season, Marshment spoke on the Just Joe Football Show YouTube channel and claimed that it would be real smart business if Leeds can acquire him.

(38;21) “Incredible, we’re talking about a real next-level player, he’s 21, he had a great season for Brugge, he can play on both wings, he can play up front, he can play as a number 9, he can play just behind a number 9, in the Joe Gelhardt role, for me if you sign someone like that, you just play through the middle and he will score goals, he got 14 goals and seven assists in the season just gone. It wasn’t just about that, it was his overall play, he’s making massive moves in Belgium and there’s talks of him signing  for AC Milan,”

(41;24) “This would be an incredible signing for Leeds, this would be next level if we can get him, and it would be, I’m not saying I want Raphinha to go… this would be nice compensation if we can get £30 million in the bank, and sign de Ketelaere as well and that would just be real smart business,” Marshment said.

Would you be happy with De Ketelaere as a replacement for Raphinha?

TIF Thoughts on Marshment’s comments…

Leeds have spent no time messing around this summer, they have already acquired three new signings, and have been linked with several other players such as Tyler Adams and De Ketelaere, who could act as replacements if Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips part ways with the club.

Raphinha has been heavily linked with Arsenal, so Marsch could use the funds they receive for him, to fund the De Ketelaere deal, and with the numbers that he racked up last season, he could be an adequate replacement.

My problem with our transfer business is not so much who (don’t want to lose either) but the low fees we are receiving, on today’s high average transfer fees we should be getting at least 50% if not double the paltry fees we are set to receive. Doesn’t do a lot for the thrifty/cheap Yorkshire man’s image. Disgusted…really
