Joe Wainman has claimed that Romeo Lavia signing for Leeds United would make the squad Premier League worthy.

There have been reports stating that Leeds United are keen on bringing Romeo Lavia to Elland Road in the summer from Premier League Champions Manchester City, who have been heavily linked with Whites star midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Lavia featured just twice for Manchester City in the first-team last season, but he did make a total of 20 appearances in the PL2. He was named Player of the Season in the 2020/21 campaign in the development league, so he could be looking for a more involved role in first-team football next term.

With Lavia linked with a move to Leeds United, Wainman claimed on the Just Joe Football Show YouTube channel that he would strengthen the Whites squad and finally make it Premier League worthy.

(5;49) “ He (Lavia) could come in, even if it was as a squad option, it bolsters it out, it makes our squad Premier League worthy because it hasn’t been that let’s be honest, Bielsa turned water in wine,” Wainman said.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments…

With Leeds struggling immensely last term, and only just managing to scrape Premier League survival on the final day of the season, Marsch has already brought in two players to Elland Road, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

It looks like Marc Roca will be the third man to sign for Leeds this summer, and bringing in Lavia, who is also a centre midfielder, could be an indication of an exit for Kalvin Phillips, and Manchester City could use the Belgian midfielder as part of a deal for him.

Although Lavia, who has been described as a ‘rare player’, is yet to play in the Premier League, it was always going to be hard for him to break into the side that has so many options, so a loan move to Leeds could be a good move for the 18-year-old who would get far more options in the first-team under Marsch.
