Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Takumi Minamino might be tempted to join Leeds United after previously working with Jesse Marsch.
There have been recent reports stating that Leeds United are keen to sign Liverpool winger Takumi Minamino in the summer transfer window, but the Whites face competition as Southampton are also interested in his signature, after he spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at St. Mary’s.
Minamino was out of favour for Liverpool last season, he made just 11 appearances in the Premier League and one of these came from the start, meaning he played just 176 minutes of top-flight football all campaign.
After Marsch has previously worked with Minamino at RB Salzburg, O’Rourke suggested to GiveMeSport that this will boost Leeds’s chances of getting the deal over the line in the upcoming months.
“I think staying in the Premier League could be an attractive option for him, and working again with Marsch, I’m sure, will boost Leeds’ chances of maybe getting the deal done for Minamino,” O’Rourke said.

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…
Minamino has been the victim of Liverpool’s success this season, with the main forwards on red hot form when they reached three cup finals and took the Premier League title race to the final day, and the January addition of Luis Diaz, meant that the Japanese international slipped further down the pecking order.

Leeds struggled massively last season, they only managed to confirm Premier League safety on the final day of the season, so Marsch may be keen to bring in some new talent in the summer, especially in the attacking sense, as just one side outside of the bottom three scored fewer goals than them.
Marsch has already added two summer signings to his squad in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, both players who the American knows from his time at Salzburg, so he might look to follow suit and bring in Minamino.
