Greg O’Keeffe has claimed on the All Together Now podcast that he expects Anthony Gordon to remain at Everton.
It has been reported this week that Everton academy product Anthony Gordon could be set for a summer exit as the Toffees look to drastically improve their financial situation which has plagued them for a long time now.
Last summer, Everton were only able to spend £1.80 million on new arrivals and that may well be similar this time around, unless they decide to cash in on one of their top stars this summer and they are attracting plenty of interest, including Gordon.
The 21-yer old has just one full season of top-flight experience under his belt but that hasn’t stopped Tottenham Hotspur from wanting to sign him, although O’Keeffe is expecting him to stay at Everton.
Should Everton sell Gordon?
Yes!
No!
(23:15) “I think Gordon, as it stands, Gordon may well stay, but with Richarlison I think we’ve all pretty much accepted that he’s off and I think that’s how it will end up.”
TIF Thoughts on the future of Gordon…
Spurs actively looking to sign Gordon this summer may have come as quite a shock to supporters of both clubs and Everton themselves given that the academy star has only started 30 first-team games for the Toffees in the Premier League.
However, he was a key and rather consistent figure in the Everton side under both Rafael Benitez and Frank Lampard while also managing to restrict the minutes for players such as Alex Iwobi and Anwar El Ghazi so he’s clearly got talent and it just remains to be seen whether or not Everton decide now is the best time to cash in.
