Fabrizio Romano has dropped an exciting claim on the Here We Go podcast about Everton target Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Everton will be looking to make amends this upcoming season for the horror show of the last campaign which saw them just about cling onto their Premier League status, however, so far this summer it’s been more about outgoings rather than incomings.

The Toffees have already released Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun and Gylfi Sigurdsson, while last season’s top scorer Richarlison reportedly wants to leave for a bigger club.

It’s not all bad news, though, as Romano has claimed that Everton are currently leading the race to sign Ukrainian international Zinchenko.

He said: “Zinchenko has chances to leave the club, with Everton leading the race. If Cucurella joins, Zinchenko leaves, and Everton have very good chances to sign him.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton’s interest in Zinchenko…

It will be interesting if Everton do sign Zinchenko, because they just signed a Ukrainian international in January to play at left-back in the form of Vitalii Mykolenko, which is the position Zinchenko often takes up for Manchester City.

However, after the release of both Delph and Sigurdsson, Frank Lampard may be wanting to deploy Zinchenko in the midfield department – something he does often for the national team.

So, if Lampard can offer him assurances that a starting role in midfield would be on offer at Goodison Park, it would be a very impressive piece of business for Everton to sign a serial winner and international despite recently flirting with relegation.
