Everton midfielder Tom Davies has taken to Instagram to show that he is working hard during the off-season ahead of the next campaign.

Davies has had a frustrating season for Everton, as he has struggled with injuries and was only eased back into the starting XI when he returned to fitness, meaning he featured just six times in the Premier League this past season – and two of those were starts.

There were talks that his future was uncertain due to the FFP situation at the club regarding homegrown players, meaning that Everton might have been open to accepting a deal for him if a decent offer came in because he came through the ranks with the Toffees and would therefore make a profit on him if he was to leave.

Although Davies has not featured regularly this season, he took to Instagram to update the Everton faithful that he is working hard during the off-season to ensure that he is fully fit heading into pre-season with the club.

TIF Thoughts on Davies…

Davies picked up a devastating injury in November which saw him sidelined until the start of May. He was an unused substitute in four out of the last five times that he was named in the squad, but started the Toffees’ last game of the season against Arsenal.

Everton struggled immensely this season and only managed to stay in the Premier League by four points, which was arguably down to injuries to key players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Davies, so if the duo remain at the club next season, Frank Lampard will be hoping they can have a positive impact.

Davies is just 23 years old and has been involved in the England youth setup from under-16 level, so Lampard might be inclined to give him a regular role in the starting XI next campaign, and the work that he has shown on Instagram is an indication that he is determined to bounce back from his injury.
