Journalist Dean Jones has claimed whilst speaking with This Is Futbol that Everton may not be the best place for Miguel Almiron.
There have been reports earlier this year, that Newcastle are open to selling Almiron for a fee of £15 million, and more recent reports are suggesting that fellow Premier League outfit Everton, are keen on bringing him to Goodison Park.
Almiron has struggled for game time this season at Newcastle, he featured 30 times in the Premier League but just 19 of those came from the start, and his current contract with the Magpies is not set to expire until 2024.
With the reports that Everton are interested in Almiron, Jones claimed that Goodison Park may not be the best place for the winger to bounce back and find his feet.
“I feel like he’s got more in a tank than he’s been able to show so far in the Premier League, but at a club like Everton that have had such a poor season and morale has been so low, I’m not sure it would be the best place for him to bounce back,” Jones said.
Should Everton sign Almiron?YesNo |
TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…
Almiron has been seriously out of form for Newcastle this season, in the Premier League, he was ranked 18th in terms of average player rating (6.68), he created just one big chance, scored just one goal, and failed to register a single assist, as per Sofascore.
However, Almiron has not been given a regular run of games this campaign, and if he joined Everton where he could be offered regular game time, then he could become the player that was anticipated when he initially signed at St James’s Park.
Everton have struggled this campaign and only managed to escape relegation by four points, so Lampard will be keen to bring in some new faces to Goodison Park in the summer and Almiron could be a good option.
