Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that Everton have looked at Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour ahead of the summer transfer window.

There were reports in February that Gilmour, who spent the season on loan with Norwich City in the Premier League, was on the radar of Everton, and the interest has supposedly continued from the Merseyside club with the summer transfer window beckoning.

Gilmour was part of a poor Norwich side that ended up getting relegated back to the Championship, just a season after gaining promotion to the top flight, where the Scottish midfielder featured 24 times.

Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Brown claimed that Everton have looked at Gilmour, as well as Blues teammate Conor Gallagher, ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

He said: “I know Everton have looked at both players. I think they’ve got very little chance of getting Conor Gallagher, because Gallagher knows he’ll get a chance at Chelsea.”

TIF Thoughts on Brown’s comments…

Brown’s claims appear to imply that Everton will have more than a chance of recruiting Gilmour, with Gallagher certainly a more ambitious target.

Gilmour has suffered on loan with Norwich this season, but on a personal note, he has produced some impressive stats. In the Premier League for his side, he had the second-highest average player rating (6.82) and the second-most passes per game (39.6), while he also averaged the second-most key passes per game (1), as per SofaScore.

Due to these impressive stats of Gilmour and the poor form of Norwich, Chelsea might be keen to send him out on loan again next season, and with Everton having a poor campaign last term, he could be a good option for Lampard when the transfer window opens.
