Everton are a club to watch this summer in the race for Harry Winks, with the Toffees having enquired before about the 26-year-old.

This has been claimed by reliable Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold, who has been discussing the interest coming from the blue half of Merseyside.

It is believed the Spurs midfielder, who was called ‘amazing’ by Mauricio Pochettino, will likely be uprooted from his boyhood club this summer, with Fabio Paratici looking to offload some of their fringe players.

And it has been a difficult couple of years in north London for Winks, with his game time taking a major hit under the last few managers in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Antonio Conte’s arrival has only cemented Winks’ role as a fringe player, with the midfielder racking up just eight Premier League starts under the Italian.

However, it seems as if Frank Lampard believes he could revitalise the Spurs man’s career with a potential move to Goodison this summer, as Gold said: “Keep an eye on Everton, I’d say. Everton tried a couple of times to sign him in January – before and after Lampard’s arrival; Lampard is a fan of Harry Winks.

“Obviously, Conte didn’t want to let him go back in January because Spurs were having issues, we knew [Oliver] Skipp was having problems as well.

“So keep an eye on Everton. I think there’s quite a bit of interest in him, but Everton certainly have enquired before.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We are interested to see where Winks’ future lies this summer, with him in need of a move if he wants to be playing regular first-team football.

Would you offer cash-plus Winks for Richarlison?

Yes

No

And there would surely be no better mentor for him than Lampard. The Everton man had a hugely successful career playing in central midfield and perhaps he could guide Winks back to his best.

Spurs are also said to be interested in Richarlison this summer, so we would also be interested to see whether Winks could be used in a potential cash-plus-player deal from the Lilywhites.

Winks is extremely underrated at Spurs. Give him a run of games and I believe he’ll be good enough to get back into the England 1st Team!
