Tony Scott has slammed talk of Everton being interested in Emmanuel Dennis while speaking on the All Together Now podcast.
A lot of Evertonians may now be starting to come to terms with their star player seemingly set to leave.
Of course, this means Everton could well be on the lookout for an attacking replacement with recently relegated Dennis said to be of interest.
Scott can’t believe Dennis is the level of player Everton are said to be targeting.
(24:25) “I think we’re going to get linked with any kind of attacking player to replace Richarlison. It’s soul-destroying really Greg that we’re being linked with these sorts of players but again, at the top of the podcasts I was saying, we’re being linked with these types of players because that’s where we are at.
Would Dennis be a good Richarlison replacement?
Yes!
No!
“Emmanuel Dennis, he’s 24 years of age, seven caps in one of the worst Nigerian teams of all time, it doesn’t look good, does it? These are the types of players we’re linked with, it’s depressing.”
TIF Thoughts on links to Dennis…
The Nigerian international had an indifferent campaign last time out with Watford managing to score 10 league goals in 33 appearances which wasn’t enough to help them avoid the drop, however, he did score six of those in a purple patch which stretched for eight games.
If Dennis was seen as a striker capable of leading the line for a team at least pushing for mid-table, the there would have likely been more movement for his services at this stage of the transfer window, so it’s no surprise that Scott isn’t overly impressed by suggestions he could arrive at Goodison Park.
