Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Aston Villa may lose Douglas Luiz in the transfer market due to contract issues.
So far this summer, the Villans have already added a number of exciting acquisitions to their team ahead of the upcoming season. Indeed, the likes of Boubacar Kamara, Robin Olsen, Philippe Coutinho, and Diego Carlos have already joined the Premier League outfit.
However, one man who could be on his way out is Luiz. As things stand, the Brazilian will see his contract expire next summer and it doesn’t sound as if talks of a renewal have really done much to suggest he will be committing to the club in the long term.
While discussing the matter on the Taylor Talks Transfers podcast, the journalist outlined his understanding of the current situation.
Taylor said: “An interesting point is Douglas Luiz, I think he’s a player that could potentially leave Villa.
“There’s been talks over a new contract but those haven’t really got off the ground yet.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he still signed a new Villa deal, Gerrard seems to be happy with him. There’s interest from Jose Mourinho’s Roma.”
Will Douglas Luiz be at Aston Villa next season?

TIF thoughts on Douglas Luiz and Aston Villa…
By the sounds of it, Luiz and Villa are not close to signing a new contract as of yet, but it is still interesting to hear Taylor say Gerrard likes the player – so there seems to be hope of a possible renewal just yet.
Even so, with Roma supposedly snooping about, the midfielder may well feel as if he would be better off making a move to Italy in the near future, especially with just 12 months left on his current contract.
Arsenal are another side that have been linked with Luiz in the past, so it certainly seems as though the Brazilian has plenty of options to consider.
Judging from Taylor’s comments, the 24-year-old may well be saying goodbye to the Villans in the near future. For now, though, it looks like it could go either way.
