Aston Villa will sign youth duo Rory Wilson and Ewan Simpson in the next couple of days, it has been claimed.

As we enter the summer period and transfer activity begins to boom for Premier League clubs, it looks as though the Villans are getting their main deals done early.

Indeed, the club have impressively already confirmed deals for the likes of Robin Olsen, Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara and Philippe Coutinho.

With those senior transfers already wrapped up, Villa now seem to have the time to seal moves for a couple of youth signings.

When talking on The Transfer Show podcast, noted insider ExWHUemployee stated that the Scottish youngsters could be with the club in the very near future.

Speaking of Steven Gerrard’s plans, he explained: “A couple of deals that I expect to happen in the next couple of days are that he’s going to sign a couple of Scottish youngsters.

“One is called Rory Wilson, who’s a young 19-year-old forward from Rangers, that he will obviously know from his time there – got a very good goals-to-game ratio.

“And then a young 15-year-old called Ewan Simpson from Hearts. They already signed a guy called Kerr [Smith] from Dundee [United] in January.

“So obviously Gerrard is using his knowledge of the Scottish game to bring in all the top young Scottish talents for quite a cheap value.”

TIF Thoughts on Rory Wilson, Ewan Simpson, and Aston Villa…

As Ex mentions, Villa signed 17-year-old defender Kerr Smith in the winter. With his recent past so connected to Rangers, it’s no shock to see Gerrard using his contacts to get more deals like that done.

Teenage striker Wilson seems to be a hot prospect after revealing he would be leaving Rangers this summer, while Simpson impressed with the Hearts academy this season, reaching the Scottish FA Youth Cup final. And so the Villans have clearly identified them both as top talents.

It certainly looks as though the duo could be real prospects somewhere down the line, and if Ex’s claims are accurate, they could well be officially announced as Aston Villa players in the next few days.
