Journalist James McNicholas has revealed that Bernd Leno is keen on staying in England amid talk of an Arsenal exit.
The Athletic reporter recently published an article explaining that the German was in talks with Fulham over a possible move this summer.
While speaking about the possible move on the Arsecast Extra podcast, McNicholas claimed that he didn’t think Leno would necessarily be that keen on a move to the recently promoted Premier League team, but a move would ‘make sense’ as the goalkeeper is ‘very happy’ in England and, more specifically, London.
He explained: “Fulham would be a really interesting destination. I don’t think Bernd Leno will be cock-a-hoop about Fulham.
“Because, you know, there’s obviously a risk joining a newly promoted team and who knows what other business they’re going to do this summer, and what sort of position that will place them in for next season.
“But I know that he’s very happy in England, very happy in London. So from that perspective, it would make sense.”

TIF thoughts on Bernd Leno and Arsenal…
Since the 2017/18 season, Fulham have bounced between being a Premier League and a Championship club, enjoying and suffering alternate promotions and relegations.
With that in mind, it’s easy to see why McNicholas feels as though Leno is likely to have some reservations about joining the club – especially as he is a German international who will surely hope to play for a side that will help him keep his place in the national squad, particularly ahead of the World Cup.
However, he played just eight times for Arsenal last term, and they don’t seem able to offer him regular minutes, so an exit seems likely.
With the goalkeeper settled and ‘very happy’ in London, Fulham could make a swoop in the coming weeks.
