Journalist David Ornstein has said that Arsenal do want to sign Youri Tielemans – but a transfer could be complicated for a few key reasons.
Having pulled off their first major piece of business this summer with the recent transfer of Fabio Vieira, attention will now focus on who the Gunners could sign next.
One name that has been linked heavily in the press is Leicester City’s Tielemans – with Fabrizio Romano saying the club must act fast if they want to make sure a deal gets over the line.
However, according to Ornstein, Arsenal may not be able to make a move for the player just yet as they already have options in the middle of the park, and could focus on signing others in different positions first.
While speaking on the FIVE channel, the journalist said: “There’s no doubt that the key decision-makers at Arsenal, as I’ve reported previously, are pretty much all-in on him.
“They want to explore a deal for him, they potentially would like to sign him. But it feels a little bit more complicated, just in terms of the congestion of positions and order of signings that they seem to be going for.”

TIF thoughts on Youri Tielemans and Arsenal…
By the sounds of it, Tielemans certainly is wanted by Arsenal. Even so, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Lucas Torreira all at the club, Mikel Arteta may not see that position as something to desperately address in the early stages of the window.
And so, a target such as Gabriel Jesus may well be the priority for now, with the Manchester City striker looking like he is taking up plenty of attention in north London at this current moment in time.
Taking everything into account, it does seem as if Arsenal may eventually get a transfer for Tielemans over the line. But after Ornstein’s latest explanation, fans may have to be patient on this one, as it certainly seems as though there is a long way to go with a lot to potentially happen before any deal is confirmed just yet.
