Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte will be looking to clear out a number of players from his squad this summer.

This is according to football journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking to This Is Futbol regarding the future of duo Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn.

Who would you sell this summer?

O’Rourke feels both of the Spurs wingers could see their futures lie elsewhere this summer with neither playing a regular role in Conte’s XI.

Bergwijn’s future, in particular, has been heavily questioned with a possible return to his homeland on the cards with Ajax believed to be interested in the £16.2m-rated ace.

As for the £18m-rated Moura, the Brazilian has failed to make an impression at Spurs this year with his last goal in the Premier League coming back in December.

And as a result, O’Rourke feels both players may be viewed by the Italian as potential avenues to look at in the summer to generate some further funds to spend on improving his side:

I’m sure Conte will be looking to reshape the squad at Tottenham this summer as well. So players who are maybe down the pecking order right now might have to be moved on to raise funds for their own transfer plans.

“So I think yeah, a big summer ahead for Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn. And I think Spurs, [I’m] sure they will be looking to clear the decks and give Conte what he wants in the transfer market.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We have to agree with O’Rourke in these two players being possible options for Conte to look at to generate some funds in the summer.

Neither have a regular spot in Conte’s XI anymore as a result of Dejan Kulusevski’s impressive start to life in the Premier League since arriving in January.

However, if both are sold, we think it is absolutely essential Spurs find replacements as both Bergwijn and Moura play a big role in Conte’s matchday squad and often come off from the bench.
