Tottenham Hotspur will not be making a move for Jorginho from their London rivals in the summer according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert has been speaking on his latest Here We Go podcast to discuss Antonio Conte’s needs ahead of the upcoming summer window.

Do Spurs need a new CM this summer?

And reports have recently linked the North London club with a possible swoop for a player in the mould of Chelsea’s midfielder, Jorginho.

It is suggested Conte’s future at Spurs will largely depend on how willing the Spurs board are going to be in backing the Italian financially in the summer market.

However, Romano has ensured fans that Spurs will not be making a move for the 30-year-old midfielder this summer with Fabio Paratici believed to be drawing up plans for a new midfielder:

“Normal rumours because Paratici wanted him at Juventus two years ago, not now. And so now the age is different and I’m told that Jorginho is not a target absolutely for Tottenham.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It is not surprising to hear Romano rubbish the notion of a potential swoop for Jorginho given Spurs do not usually do business with Chelsea and the Italian is now 30-years-old.

There will be room for improvement in a lot of positions at Spurs over the summer but we are interested to see whether they add to their midfield.

Oliver Skipp should be available for the new campaign after his recent injury issues and Rodrigo Bentancur has established himself as a regular in Conte’s XI.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg a mainstay in the XI, we do wonder whether it could be the Dane who makes way in Conte’s plans with recent reports linking him with Newcastle United.
