Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dane Scarlett is expected to leave the club this summer in a season-long loan deal to a lower league side.

This is according to the reliable Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold who has been discussing the 18-year-old’s future on his latest YouTube video.

Scarlett was thrown into the senior side this season with a clear lack of options up top for Antonio Conte given Harry Kane was the only senior striker in the squad.

The youngster did not feature much from the bench but did make the squad 24 times in the Premier League with his only minutes in the top flight coming against Leeds United (via Transfermarkt).

With Spurs now expected to spend big in this summer’s window and with Conte believed to be pushing for a backup striker, Gold expects Scarlett to learn his trade in men’s football in a season-long loan:

(25:30) “He’s been soaking up everything. Everyone behind the scenes says he’s been learning and soaking up everything from Kane and Son. And, you know, it looks very likely he’ll be heading off on loan next season, which will be perfect timing for him.”

Will Scarlett become the eventual Kane replacement?

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We think this would be the best move for all with Scarlett already proving himself too good for the youth level football having previously scored 17 goals in 16 appearances in the Premier League U18 league.

With a season of learning behind the scenes from Kane and Son Heung-min, we think a move to a League One or Two side would be a great switch for the youngster to learn his trade as Troy Parrott has done this season.

Scarlett has suggested he has grown both physically and mentally this season under the watch of Conte and Kane and we do feel this is the next step to take in his development.

It is apparent Conte has big hopes for the youngster in the future, having previously said:

“I’m seeing a lot of improvement today in Scarlett honestly if I have to tell you. Seeing that this guy is improving a lot, he’s only 17-years-old but I can tell you that he is a really important prospect for Tottenham.”
