Leeds United have a huge summer ahead after a dramatic final day in the Premier League saw the Whites secure their spot in the top flight for next season.
And perhaps the biggest talking point going into the summer transfer window will be the future of Raphinha, who has been linked with a move away from Elland Road.
Do you think Raphinha will stay?
Yes
No
It has been suggested La Liga giants Barcelona are interested in bringing the 25-year-old winger to Camp Nou ahead of the new 2022/23 campaign.
It was thought Raphinha had a £25m release clause in his deal with the Whites, but now they have survived the drop, this will no longer be available for any interested clubs.
And former Leeds ace Eddie Gray is hoping the club’s Premier League survival will be enough to keep Raphinha at Elland Road, as he told TalkSport:
“Now, every time he’s played for our club, he always puts it in, puts a shift all the time. So, I mean, I think he’d be well sought-after with other clubs in the league, but hopefully, us staying in the Premier League will persuade him, you know, that Leeds United are his club.”
TIF Thoughts on Gray’s comments…
For Leeds to have any chance of keeping Raphinha this summer, it felt like they had to secure their spot in the Premier League for next season at the very least.
And while that is exactly what they have done, there will still be a lot of question marks over where he may end up – though Leeds do hold a strong position over his future.
The Brazilian still has two years remaining on his current deal with Leeds, so the Yorkshire club would be well within their rights to demand a big figure for the 25-year-old if he is hoping to move on.
