Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was withdrawn on Sunday afternoon with an injury picked up in the final game of the season.

The Lilywhites secured their spot in fourth of the Premier League table for the 2021/22 campaign on Sunday with their emphatic 5-0 victory against Norwich City.

And the Uruguayan midfielder put in an impressive display which saw him provide the assists for the first two goals of the afternoon at Carrow Road.

The 24-year-old has been a big part of Antonio Conte’s XI since he signed in January, with the game on Sunday his 17th appearance in the Premier League.

However, he was withdrawn from the action having sustained a possible injury concern, with Conte being forced to withdraw the midfielder in the second half, as revealed by Gold during the match:

“Bentancur goes down with a knock and is replaced by Harry Winks and Steven Bergwijn replaces Emerson Royal,” tweeted Gold.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

This will be a slight concern to some Spurs fans as it was the second game in a row in which Bentancur had to be withdrawn through injury.

Hopefully, the substitution will have just been made as a precaution with Bentancur having played a lot of football since arriving in north London in January.

However, Spurs fans have been crushed by injuries in the past, with Oliver Skipp not seen since the middle of January with what seemed to be just a niggling injury.

Therefore, supporters will be hoping this does not become a recurring theme in the Uruguayan’s first full season at the club, as his latest appearance may heighten concerns over his proneness to injury.
