Leeds United secured their Premier League survival on a dramatic final day in the 2021/22 campaign with an away win against Brentford.

Jack Harrison was the hero for the Whites as his 94th-minute strike sealed all three points and cemented their spot in the top flight with Burnley losing at Turf Moor.

However, it was apparent that Bees manager Thomas Frank was not pleased with the 25-year-old’s winning goal, which he does not believe should have stood.

Brentford had little to play for on Sunday, but Frank was left furious by Harrison’s goal, with the Danish manager claiming there was an offside in the lead up to the strike:

“That’s why it’s difficult and we still get a deflection [for Leeds’ 2nd goal] and it doesn’t matter for whatever the relegation or our position or anything, but I would like to know about the second goal why it’s not offside from VAR,” Frank said.

And football.london reporter for the Bees, Uzzi Majid, picked up on the 48-year-old’s frustrations, as he tweeted after the game: “He was not happy about LUFC‘s winning goal, saying that it was offside and that VAR should have intervened.”

TIF Thoughts on Frank’s comments…

It seems Frank was frustrated by Rodrigo’s position at the time of Harrison’s strike, which was not picked up by either the linesman or the VAR team, with the Spanish forward potentially in David Raya’s line of sight.

And it has to be said, looking back on the goal, there could certainly be a claim for offside with the Leeds man failing to track back into an onside position.

However, Leeds fans will not care, and even if the goal had been disallowed, the Whites would’ve stayed up with Burnley losing to Newcastle United.
