Journalist Derek McGregor tweeted indirectly at Celtic fans on Tuesday night following the development surrounding Ryan Christie.

The former Celtic man secured the Parkhead side some extra revenue on Tuesday after his Bournemouth side secured themselves a return to the English top flight.

Included in the 27-year-old’s contract with the Cherries was a promotion clause which would guarantee Celtic an extra £2m – reportedly – on top of the original sale.

Christie left on deadline day in the summer and it was apparent the move had left a lot of Celtic fans questioning the Scotsman’s decision to leave Parkhead.

The winger played 88 minutes in the promotion-clinching clash on Tuesday and after the game, McGregor sent an indirect message out to the Celtic faithful:

“Nobody slaughtering Ryan Christie now for leaving Celtic for Bournemouth,” tweeted McGregor.

TIF Thoughts on Christie’s clause…

If there was a large amount of criticism from Celtic fans towards the deal back in August then it would be interesting to see how they view it now.

Both parties appear to come out of the deal as winners with Christie set to play Premier League football next season and the Bhoys with one hand on the Scottish crown.

And to top it off, the Bhoys have been handed another couple of million to potentially spend in the upcoming summer window with Champions League football possibly on the cards.
