Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte left Alasdair Gold stunned by his comments on Son Heung-min following their victory on Sunday.

The Spurs correspondent was speaking on his YouTube channel and spoke of Conte’s comments on the South Korean still having room for improvement.

Son added another two goals to his tally on the weekend against Leicester City which takes his tally up to 19 in the league – just three behind Mohamed Salah.

The goals on Sunday made it eight in his last six league games, however, there have been four of the last eight games where he has failed to provide a goal involvement (via Transfermarkt).

And after the victory in N17 on Sunday, Gold highlighted the Italian’s comments on the winger and what may lie ahead for this season’s top scorer:

(23:00) “And what’s scary is that Conte in his interview with the BBC says he can still be much better, Sonny. If you’re a defender, and you think he can get even better than he is right now – good luck,” said Gold.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

There is no doubting the South Korean has had a sensational season in front of goal as he currently sits as the league’s top goalscorer from open play.

However, there has certainly been games where the 29-year-old has not been at the top of his game and struggled to make much of an impression on the match.

Given he has already surpassed his most goals in a single Premier League campaign, the notion of Son continuing to improve year on year is definitely a scary thought.
