Fabrizio Romano has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo is still waiting to meet with Erik ten Hag before a decision is made on his Manchester United future.

The Italian journalist was speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel following United’s final home game of the season on Monday night.

Do you want Ronaldo to stay this summer?

Yes

No

No

Ronaldo added yet another goal to his tally for the season amid reports surrounding his future at Old Trafford ahead of the summer transfer window.

United have are now likely to miss out on landing a spot in the Champions League for next season meaning the best the five-time European champion can hope for realistically is a spot in the Europa League.

And with reports suggesting his future may be in doubt, Romano revealed what he has been told by those close to the 37-year-old:

“And then for Cristiano. What I’m told from people close to Cristiano, he’s still not in the process to decide his future. He’s waiting to have a conversation with Erik ten Hag.

“For Cristiano, it’s not a problem from what I’m told that Manchester United will sign a new striker in the summer. We know that Manchester United will sign a new number nine. They will sign in a striker no matter what happens with Cristiano.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

There has been a lot of debate in the media as to whether Ronaldo has improved United this season, however, he is by far their top scorer this season with 24 across all competitions.

We find it difficult to imagine Ten Hag arriving at Old Trafford and not wanting Ronaldo to be a part in his side for next season given his connection with the fans and goalscoring prowess.

However, with a spot in the Champions League highly unlikely, we will be interested to see how United line up next season and whether Ronaldo will still be a part of the plans at Old Trafford.
