BBC broadcaster Dan Walker praised Barry Bannan despite Sheffield Wednesday‘s play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland on Monday.

The Owls came into the second leg at Hillsborough one goal down after Ross Stewart’s strike had secured a 1-0 victory for the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light. At home, Wednesday took the lead through Lee Gregory, but were ultimately undone by a 93rd-minute goal from Patrick Roberts.

During the game, Walker took to Twitter to laud Bannan, saying, “Barry Bannan is some player. Quality stuff.”

TIF Thoughts on Bannan

It was a bitter end to the season for the Yorkshire outfit. To lose in the play-offs will hurt, and the players now need to pick themselves up and push for promotion next term. At Hillsborough, though, Bannan was one of the side’s best players, completing three key passes and causing Sunderland plenty of problems.
